SM@RTM main objective is to improve the competitiveness of RTM processes through the development of predictive digital technologies and process monitoring that support the production process in the design, manufacturing engineering and production phases.
SM@RTM will develop predictive tools for visualizing process and product digital twins to support the plant manager, which will provide key information on the manufacturing process of preforms and resin transfer in real time (generation of defects, prediction of the effect of defects in dry fiber preforms on the quality of the RTM process, resin advancement in infusion processes, flow types) and relate it to the expected mechanical properties of the final product.
In this way, the knowledge of product and process designers, and plant managers about manufacturing processes will be increased, contributing to the generation of corrective actions based on real-time data, as well as the evaluation of the product according to the conformities of the target application.
On the other hand, SM@RTM aims to increase the design/geometric diversity space of the new generation structures, by helping in the manufacture of zero defects of new, more complex designs in fewer stages, for which it will develop a new generation of composite-based molds manufactured by highly flexible additive manufacturing technologies that will allow new structural designs for the aeronautical sector, as well as the simplification of one-shot manufacturing processes of three-dimensional structures.
